Beaches in the Charente Maritime
At the foot of the white chalk cliffs of Meschers-sur-Gironde, there are 5 idyllic sandy beaches: Plage de Cadet, Plage des Nonnes, Plage des Vergnes, Plage de L’Arnèche and Plage de Suzac. The first is about 15 minutes from Le Petit Chenac. Everywhere you can park for free.

Plage de Cadet (12 km)
The first beach of Meschers, plage de Cadet is accessible via a steep staircase carved into the cliffs. There are no amenities here but a fine sandy quiet beach with great views and perfect tranquility.
4 beautiful beaches on the Gironde (12 km)
The other 4 beaches (Plage des Nonnes, Plage des Vergnes, Plage de L’Arnèche and Plage de Suzac) are equipped with all amenities. There are restaurants, opportunities for water sports and in addition there are lifeguards during the high season.
Beach of St-Georges-de-Didonne (16 km)
A little further away is the beautiful beach of St-Georges-de-Didonne, more than 2 kilometres long. It is situated in a large bay with a spacious boulevard, a wonderful place to stroll. The beach here is gently shelving, making it very suitable for small children. At one end of the bay there is a tree-top adventure playground for older children and adults. Close behind the boulevard you will find the village centre of Saint Georges, rich in narrow streets, charming boutiques and a pretty square with a typical French atmosphere.
